Texas Chainsaw Massacre : The Shocking Truth
The film which you are about to see is an account of the making of a cult classic. A group of young filmmakers, tehnicians and actors produces a film in Austin, in 1973, which would depict the mad and macabre as it had never been seen before in a motion picture. For them the low budget production in the sweltering heat of the Texas Summer would prove a difficult experience and the worldwide success of the picture would be soured by dishonesty and corruption. But the events of that summer shoot would change the face of the horror film and lead to the production of one of the most bizarre films in the annals of American Cinema History - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Virginia Tech massacre was a school shooting consisting of two separate attacks approximately two hours apart on April 16, 2007, that took place on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States. The perpetrator, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many others before committing suicide. The massacre is the deadliest peacetime shooting incident by a single gunman in United States history, on or off a school campus.
Cho, a senior English major at Virginia Tech, had been diagnosed with and was treated for a severe anxiety disorder in middle school and continued receiving therapy and special education support until his junior year of high school. While in college in 2005, Cho had been accused of stalking two female students and was declared mentally ill by a Virginia special justice. At least one professor had asked him to seek counseling.

This is a 90-minutes documentary that examines and challenges religion. It covers an impressive amount, addressing Judaism, Islam, Christianity and Catholicism, without any of them being glossed over. It raises questions that have to be asked, and makes remarkable points. The aggressive and uncompromising way of more than one of the groups should not be ignored. Like The Enemies of Reason, this has disturbing material. This is put together of footage taken from the various areas(including famous sites) that writer Dawkins visited in making this and interviews with people from both sides, several of which are specifically known for their views on the subjects. This is more confrontational and impassioned than the later-produced, aforementioned piece, and this is sure to offend some. I don't think that is as much the intent as a side-effect... I would say that Richard means to provoke exploration, reflection, independent, free thought. I doubt he is particularly likely to go for shock value. The subject matter does perhaps make for more emotional responses, what with the deeply personal nature of it. Richard Dawkins asks great questions, and argues impeccably well. Not always equally respectful, but invariably eloquently and intelligently. I recommend this to any skeptic, and anyone in general who is willing to hear him out.

Kosovo: Can You Imagine? is a documentary film by Canadian filmmaker Boris Malagurski, about the Serbs that live in Kosovo and the lack of human rights that they have today, in the 21st century. Most of the Kosovo Serbs have been ethnically cleansed by the Albanians who make up the majority of Kosovo. Kosovo has been under UN administration since 1999 when NATO bombed Serbia for 78 days to halt a crackdown on ethnic Albanian separatism in its province of Kosovo. We follow the stories of several Serbs who have fell victim to a nationalist and irredentist ideology that has a goal of creating a pure Albanian state of "Kosova" ("Kosovo" in Albanian). Serbs in Kosovo have no basic human rights. You will be shocked to learn which atrocities they have to face each day.

Human cannibalism is steeped in controversy, a subject that both fascinates and repulses. Many anthropologists argue that cannibalism is an instinctive part of human nature - that it was an institution in many, if not all, ancient cultures; that people will turn to cannibalism without reservation in a survival situation; and that our very bones are imprinted with evidence that we are creatures who eat our own. Other experts vehemently disagree, denying that cannibalism played a major role throughout history. They question eyewitness accounts and take issue with what archaeologists claim is hard scientific evidence. 'Cannibals' gets to the heart of the debate by investigating both well-known and little-known scenarios in which humans may have resorted to eating other humans. The taboo of cannibalism has been with us for centuries. We explore early accounts of cannibalism, and how the reputed act and its practitioners were perceived by the Western world, and to what extent we can rely on historic sources as truth. Though European explorers were quick to slap the cannibal label on peoples they encountered exploring the globe, we’ll reveal the extent to which they practiced their own form of medicinal cannibalism back home. We investigate some of the most common motivations for cannibalism beginning with survival: in 1765 the crew of the Peggy draws lots to decide who shall be sacrificed to feed the rest. A century later, Sir John Franklin's entire expedition perishes in the arctic, but not before some resort to consuming human flesh. In 1883, Alfred Packer makes headlines worldwide when he is convicted of murdering and cannibalizing five of his companions on a Colorado gold-rush expedition turned winter survival catastrophe. Finally, we meet two of the survivors of the 1972 Andes plane crash who, with over twenty other passengers, are forced to consume the dead bodies of their friends in order to survive for over 70 days in the Andes Mountains in Argentina.

In 1995 Director Steve James (Hoop Dreams) returned to rural Southern Illinois to reconnect with Stevie Fielding, a troubled young boy he had been an 'Advocate Big Brother' to ten years earlier. He began a film, a search, to discover not only what had happened to Stevie over the past ten years but to understand the forces that had shaped his entire life. Part way through the filming, Stevie is arrested and charged with a serious crime that tears his family apart. What was to be a modest profile turns into a intimate four and half year chronicle of Stevie, his broken family, the criminal justice system and the filmmaker himself, as they all struggle with what Stevie has done and who he has become.

This installment of Court TV's Crime Stories covers "The Night Stalker" of Los Angeles, Richard Ramirez. Ramirez terrorized the city during 1985, leaving a trail of mutilated bodies. He was a worshiper of Satan and his victims were hunted at their homes at night. This video informs the viewer of the events leading to Ramirez's trial. Ramirez was convicted of 13 counts of murder and sentenced to death. He is currently on death row at San Quentin Prison. Despite his sadistic crimes, he still attracts women, many of whom are crime groupies.

During WW II, the US navy used the island in Southern Pacific to build a military base and when the islanders met the American soldiers it was a tremendous cultural shock. And the islanders have believed in the Americans were demi-gods. During this period, John Frum, an American pilot landed on Tanna. No one knows him except the islanders. They believe in John Frum is their prophet and wait his return.
Their customs have been shaped by this belief.

Believe it or not, `Live Nude Girls Unite!' is a true, funny and heartfelt mother-daughter story! I saw the film at it's world premiere in San Francisco in the spring of 2000, and I still find myself thinking about it occasionally. It follows a group of dancers at a San Francisco strip club, `The Lusty Lady', as they work and fight to become the world's first unionized sex workers. This is interesting given that The Lusty Lady (TLL), is `women owned and operated', and the customers use coin machines to pay to view the dancers behind glass, so there's no tipping for physical contact between dancers and customers. Under these conditions, you'd think the dancers should have few complaints and no compelling reasons to organize. (Typically dancers pay the clubs a high fee to perform, relying on customer tips for their actual wages, especially tips in exchange for sex). I mean if you've decided to be an exotic dancer, you could be exposed to much worse conditions, right?
Central to the documentary is the story of Julia, a stand-up comedian and one-half of the producing/directing team making the film. Julia has decided to take the opportunity to capture on film her mother's reaction to the news that Julia is an exotic dancer at TLL. Beyond the concern or even horror such a revelation would bring any parent, Julia's mother has seen the worst the sex industry has to offer. She's a physician and advocate for the rights of street prostitutes!

Not only do i watch a lot of movies,I also watch documentaries.And this is by far the best i've ever seen.I got this free when I brought Hannibal on DVD.Looking at the case I knew somthing was creepy about this,because everything seem so real when I was watching it.The reason I said this,because this film has reactments,except none of that fake crap.The people playing the killers are really into the role.Especially the one with Albert Fish and Andrei Chikatilo.This film even gives more infor on the world's most dangerous killers.Watch it,you won't be dissapointed.

In this documentary Merrilees Parker goes on a personal journey to find out the "truth" behind how animals are killed for their fur. The programme starts off with Merrilees showing her collection of fur clothes (from what I remember she owns 3 or 4 pieces). She meets various people in the fur trade including the people who run the fur farms and kill the animals. She also meets an animal rights supporter who shows her violent videos of animals being brutally killed for fur; no surprise that these change her opinion. As she visits various fur farms and "hunting grounds" she learns the animals are are largely treated fairly. She also visits some fashion houses/fashion designers and learns there is not only a demand for fur garments but they can look beautiful. The documentary ends with her cutting-up her fur clothes. At the end of day very few people will make a documentary of this nature and say they love fur and will wear more of it; so no surprises there.

An exploration of the intersection between religion and homosexuality in the U.S. and how the religious right has used its interpretation of the Bible to stigmatize the gay community.
We meet five Christian families, each with a gay or lesbian child. Parents talk about their marriages and church-going, their children's childhood and coming out, their reactions, and changes over time. The stories told by these nine parents and four adult children alternate with talking heads - Protestant and Jewish theologians - and with film clips of fundamentalist preachers and pundits and news clips of people in the street. They discuss scripture and biblical scholarship. A thesis of the film is that much of Christianity's homophobia represents a misreading of scripture, a denial of science, and an embrace of quack psychology. The families call for love.

The Secret Glory tells the story of Otto Rahn (1904-1939), who worked in Ahnenerbe (Ancestral Heritage Society), a Schutz-Staffel division in the Nazi Germany. Rahn was convinced he knew where to find the Holy Grail and after being nominated an SS officer, he finally had the resources to pursue it. Otto Rahn was a writer who's life's passion was to pursue the Grail. This is an object that was made from the crown of Lucifer after his fall from grace. Its a powerful relic that Rahn believed could be found by decoding the poem Parzival by Wolfram Von Eschenbach. Rahn found backing for his ideas in the mystical societies that were active in Germany between the world wars. The societies were tied to right wing politics and it wasn't long before Rahn was attached to the Nazi's and the SS. Its a dark story about a man who ended up in a situation that was way over his head. The ability to separate fact from fiction when it comes to the Nazi interest in the occult is a difficult thing. There have been more than a fair share of books and films on the subject and not all of them have been scrupulous in their reporting. What you think is real very often not and what you think is not occasionally is. Myth and legend and fact have intertwined so much that anything is possible, especially for an open mind. This is Stanley's attempt to unravel the knot (or begin to unravel since Stanley in the commentary on the DVD states that some documents concerning some of the subjects are just now being declassified. Stanley hopes to pursue more leads and produce a longer cut later). The film is structured as a mystical journey. The visuals and music are often very hypnotic taking you to another place and time. The visuals, taken from photographs and old films are supplemented with interviews with people who knew Rahn and spell out, occasionally contradictorily, the events in Rahn's life. It takes Rahn from his days in college to his final days in the SS. Richard Stanley has fashioned a unique film about a unique character. Its a film that is made in such away as to suck you in and to give you some sense of the subject and the times. Its a good film and good introduction to the weird mind set that one often finds when one looks at the Nazi/occult connection.

Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills
Absolutely shocking and riveting from beginning to end. A brutal murder of three young boys leads to the wrongful conviction of three teens who were fingered for the crime because the police and townspeople found them "weird." Two of the teens are currently (2004) serving life sentences, and one is sitting on death row! This documentary brilliantly unfolds the story of the tragedy in West Memphis through interviews with the murdered boys' families, the accused and convicted teens, and footage of the court trials. The directors remain unbiased and let the audience decide for themselves "who did it," but there's no disputing that the police investigation was a travesty and that the West Memphis Three did not get fair trials--were found guilty before even taking the stand. Paradise lost 2 is the follow up film to the first documentary about the Robin Hood Murders. This film shows us how the convicted boys have been coping since they have been in prison and how the murdered boys parents have dealt with the past few years. This film also focuses on more evidance that these boys are not guilty and how there is growing speculation on one of the murdered boys father that he is responsible for the 3 boys deaths. Yet again the film gets far to graphic , why do we have to see pictures of the castrated murdered boy? We do have an imagination HBO, and we can use it. The father who is under suspision comes across as a horrible man who looks as if he is a mixture of a drug addict,a bible basher and inter breading but having said that most of the people we see from Arkansas look and come across as being like that. I do feel this film is heavily biased towards the convicted boys but i also feel they should never have been convicted in the first place.

The most extreme TV programmes broadcast around the world are packed into this 90-minute special. Consider the following story line for the ultimate video nasty. Single man meets radical male masochist on the Internet. On their first date, the masochist offers up his penis as main course in a romantic dinner for two. After some teething problems over the best way to prepare the food, the two men enjoy a meal of garnished genitals. Satiated, and feeling woozy, the masochist is led upstairs to the bathroom, where he is left to bleed to death. Hours later, our host pops in to see how his date is doing, and finishes him off with a knife to the throat. He then butchers the body and barbecues the meat.
Even as fiction, this extreme tale of human weirdness would be difficult to stomach. So how do we respond when two middle-aged computer engineers turn this incredulous plot into jaw-dropping fact? If you thought that you seen it all you are WRONG!!! This is a documentary like no other you seen before. Documentary about the life and death of the notorious underground punk icon GG Allin, the foul mouthed, heroin shooting lead singer of the Murder Junkies, who would throw excrement at the crowd, start fights with the biggest guys in the audience, and threatened to kill himself onstage. He was considered the lowest common denominator of our society by some, an avant-garde artist by others. He died of an overdose in the early 90's. Overall this is a must watch!!!

Jasenovac - The Cruelest Death Camp of All Times
For over sixty years the darkest secret about Holocaust has been kept from the world. It considers the most vicious and most loyal followers of Nazi Germany, who have turned their devotion to Final Solution into a series of concentration camps, whose monstrous cruelty and savagery remain unparalleled in human history. Only four days after the commencement of the Nazi Germany military campaign against the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the terrorist group that was trained for years by Adolf Hitler and condoned by Catholic Church to destabilize the young monarchy, seized the power and proclaimed the new fascist state. The Fuhrer generously rewarded his proxies with huge territory, while Catholic Chrch hurried to assist the murderers in
enacting their monstrous agenda and crime to come. The murderers were known as Ustashe, or Ustashas and clero-fascist state known as "Indepentent State of Croatia".
Only in largest death camp, an estimated six to seven hundred thousand Serbs, Jews and Gypsies have perished in the Ustashe death rampage, imposing the same racial purification laws of Third Reich. Headed by Archbishop Stepinac, the entire Catholic clergy advocated the Ustashe genocide, and many took part in mass executions.
The fall of Third Reich brings down the dark Ustashe regime, who flee the crime scene after demolishing most of evidence, with the majority of Ustashe lidership going to Argentina, provided with new names and documents by the Vatican. However, the advent of freedom did not let the truth come out to the world.
Communist president Joseph Broz Tito, a Croatian Catholic himself, decided to treat Ustashe genocide as taboo, trying to rule via ethnic divisions and by restraining the most numerous Yugoslav nation. In their attempt to turn away Tito from Stalin and USSR, western powers supported every Tito's move. Tito remained the president of Yugoslavia for life. His policy of supressing and ignoring this part of Holocaust has been a total success, therefore the rest of the world still has not heard of the most monstrous crimes, and savagery that managed to horrify the Nazis themselves.

Profilers (1997), written by Jeff Tarkington, about criminal profilers who base their analysis of prospective suspects on the crime scene investigation (C.S.I.) and their previous interviews with convicted serial killers. Here we see how FBI profilers John Douglas and Roy Hazelwood help to convict Wayne Bertram Williams, Robert Hansen, and Larry Gene Bell, though with a victim count of 2, Bell just qualifies as a serial killer. Of the 3 cases, Williams is the most curious, where it is said by Douglas that he "almost played out his own script" (whatever that means), and is seen to be stalked by the media before he is arrested and it appears that the police have named him as their prime suspect. Douglas' ploy to make Williams demonstrate his "anger" on trial is said to be the turning point in the case, though anger being interpreted as "rage" must certainly be subjective.
Dahmer: Mystery of the Serial Killer (1993), written by Michael Husain, and focusing on one of the more grotesque serial killers Jeffrey Dahmer. This episode also traces past serial killers. Described as the "embodiment of evil" and like Haley's comet by his defence attorney - who thankfully "only appears once every 75 years", excerpts from Dahmer's trial are seen here as is his own address to the court, though Dahmer has his back to the camera. Forensic Psychiatrist Park Dietz diagnoses Dahmer as being accidently conditioned in puberty to associate sex with violence, control and mutilation, and though he is described as a necrophile, his taste is more for "sex zombies" created from the crude lobotomies of his victims, than corpses. Dietz also comments that Dahmer needed to be drunk to kill and dismember, with Dahmer's alcoholism said to be as compulsive as his murdering. The medical examiner describes what the police found in Dahmer's apartment as a "localised disaster", and the trial scenes also include the testimony of escaped victim Tracy Edwards, and Dahmer being abused histrionically by one of the victim's family. Perhaps because Dahmer was killed once imprisoned, his tale has a more mysterious resonance.
Buried Secrets (1996), written by Judy Cole, and about John Wayne Gacy, Jr. This episode has multiple use of the same imagery, especially one photo of Gacy that is zoomed in on over and over again, which reads as lazy film-making. We see Gacy dressed as Poco the clown, and the camera pours over handcuffs and rope, for expressionist effect, and we hear Gacy's voice from Defence Attorney's taped interviews. We are told he was such a social manipulator that he could "con people into killing them", and that his police confession was a "4 hour monologue". The weakness in this presentation is that it does not make clear the reality of Gacy's disposal of his victim's bodies under his house, where access looks decidely limited. However, some amusement comes from Gacy toying with his police surveillants, and his grim joke "I was only guilty of running a cemetary without a licence".
Charles Manson: Journey into Evil (1995), written by Alan Goldberg. This episode is unique in that we see Manson interviewed to-camera, though I could have done without the faux flames over one photo of him. Roman Polanski's emotional press conference after the death of his wife Sharon Tate by Manson's "family" is interrupted, though Patricia Krenwinkel's telling of the Tate house murders is chilling without being graphic.

In 1992, a year after Aileen Wuornos was arrested for the murders of seven men in Florida, filmmaker Nick Broomfield released the documentary “Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer.” A decade later, they were reunited when he was subpoenaed to appear at her final state appeal before execution. Grizzly Man, a visually stunning and sensitive portrait of one man's life - and death - in the wild was the talk of the film festival circuit in 2005. Jeffrey Dahmer was a homosexual sexual deviant who raped, murdered and ate parts of 17 victims.
Like other killers he managed to elude capture while continuing to carry out his crimes. Like every other sociopath serial killer in history he believed himself to be completely justified in his actions.
How does a man become a serial killer, necrophiliac, cannibal and psychopath? Many of the theories would have you believe that the answers can always be found in childhood abuse, bad parenting, head trauma, foetal alcoholism and drug addiction. Perhaps in some cases these are contributing factors, but not for Jeffrey Dahmer…

On 22 March 1999, a naked woman with a chain around her neck ran screaming through the streets of Elephant Butte, New Mexico. Cynthia Vigil, 21, claimed she had been held captive for three days and subjected to a terrifying ordeal of rape and torture. She named her kidnapper as 59-year-old David Parker Ray, a resident of the nearby desert town of Truth or Consequences. Police arrested Ray and conducted a search of his home. They soon came across evidence of a struggle in his living room which seemed to support Cynthia's claims. But a greater shock was in store when officers opened the trailer parked in his backyard and discovered a horrifying torture chamber. The centrepiece of the room was a gynaecological chair fitted with straps, surrounded by an array of torture instruments and twisted sex toys. This was Ray's "toy box" or "Satan's Den", as he named it. There seemed little doubt that Cynthia Vigil's story of sexual degradation was true. "She was his sex slave when they entered this trailer," says Agent Norman Rhoades of the state police. Trinkets hidden in the room raised the likelihood that other women had suffered a similar fate. "The consensus was pretty clear that there were going to be more victims," says Captain Rich Libicer. This suspicion was confirmed when police found a videotape containing footage of another of Ray's victims strapped to the chair. The woman, apparently drugged or unconscious, could only be identified by a tattoo on her leg. When the tattoo was circulated in the media, a woman came forward to identify herself as the victim. Kelly Van Cleave said she had no memory of her abduction, but had been tormented by nightmares of being tied down and tortured. "When the FBI called, then I knew they weren't just dreams," she recalls. Questioned by police, Kelly found some of her memories returning. It was clear that she had been drugged by her captor to prevent her from remembering the trauma. The use of sedatives also explained why more women had not come forward to testify against Ray. More chilling evidence soon emerged in the form of a tape recording made by Ray in which he explained to his victims what he was about to do to them. On the tape, he claimed to have abducted some 37 women - leading police to believe that many of them may be dead. A search of the surrounding desert was conducted in the hope of turning up some of these victims - without success. With no bodies to pin on Ray, police knew that a murder charge was impossible. "The fact that we couldn't prosecute him for murder made it all the more important that we successfully prosecute him for the rape, torture and kidnappings," says chief prosecutor Jim Yontz. Yet the case against Ray rested on two potentially unreliable witnesses. Cynthia Vigil was a heroin-addicted prostitute, while Kelly Van Cleave had only partial memories of her experience. Moreover, the judge ruled that the tape recording of Ray was inadmissible. To the shock and horror of his surviving victims, the trial ended in a hung jury, and a retrial was ordered.

The most touching moment of the film is that Carroll reveals Edith Stein's letter for the first time. Edith Stein was a brilliant young Jewish philosopher who converted to Catholicism in 1922. She wrote a letter to Pope Pius XII for protection from the Nazis, but got no answer. That Pope was the one who called "Hitler's Cardinal".

Faces of Death 2 does not live up to the pure gore style of the first film, which makes it not quite as good. The one thing that makes this film stick out is the amount of real footage. Faces of Death used fake footage to get fame, which was okay because the footage was still so graphic and disturbing that it didn't really matter. But almost all of the footage found in Faces of Death 2 is real, with the exception of a few scenes, such as the drugstore shootout. It has some good stunts gone wrong, a few disgusting animal scenes, and a really brutal boxing match where a heavyweight takes on a man who looks like he hasn't eaten in five years. Faces of Death 2 isn't the best in the series, but it isn't the worst either.

Between June 14, 1962 and January 4, 1964, 13 single women (between the ages of 19 and 85) were murdered in the Boston area. Most had been sexually assaulted in their apartments and were murdered in the manner indicated above. Without any sign of forced entry into their dwellings, the women were assumed to have either known their assailant or have voluntarily allowed him into their homes, believing him to be an apartment maintenance person or some other service person. While the police were not convinced that all of these murders were the work of a single individual, much of the public believed so. The media certainly fueled the idea of a single murderer referring to him with names such as 'The Phantom' and 'The Sunset Killer' before settling on 'The Boston Strangler.

On January 1, 1994, the day the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) took effect, the Zapatista National Liberation Army, made up of impoverished Mayan Indians from the state of Chiapas, took over five towns and 500 ranches in southern Mexico. The Government deployed its troops, and at least 145 people died in the ensuing battle. Fighting for indigenous Mexicans to regain control over their lives and the land, the Zapatista Army, led by the charismatic, guerilla poet Subcommandante Marcos, started sending their message to the world via the Internet. The result was what The New York Times called “the world’s first post-modern revolution.” Filmmaker Nettie Wild travelled to the jungle canyons of southern Mexico to film the elusive and fragile life of the uprising. Her camera effectively and movingly captures the human dimensions behind this war of symbols.

What made this documentary so compelling was that there is actual crime footage, as well as photos of the crime scene and bodies. He exhumed bodies and mutilated them. He also made very weird things such as a belt made of nipples, cut out women's genital parts, made a soup bowl of a human skull, and most shockingly, made a suit made of human skin. That is just inexcusably disturbing. It goes to show how sick Gein was. How a man could become such a monster ?

Death Scenes I
Famed Satanist Anton Lavey hosts this morbidly fascinating mondo documentary about violent death. The film is unusual for being presented entirely as a series of still photographs taken from the notebooks of a Los Angeles crime photographer of the 1930s and '40s. Lavey's dry, witty narration is never as vulgar as that in similar series such as Faces of Death or Traces of Death, and serves as an informative counterpoint to the images presented. Unfortunately, later films in the series went the more traditional mondo route, loaded with tiresome war-atrocity footage and gory video clips.

I have watched as many shockumentary's as I could get my hands on, but this one is by far the most gruesome of them all. What I liked about this one is it was 100% real authentic scenes of death. Where as Faces of death was mainly staged (saying that about 40% of it is fake). Some of the worst footage ever to come to film is on these series. It seems to have it all. It starts back from Hitler and Stalin days, to the war in Bosnia. I can see why this film would have gotten such rotten ratings as it has. Really, only the sickest of minds could sit here and watch such terrible footage. The grand finale of this flick is an authentic autopsy. If it's sick and real morbid footage you're looking for, what can I say besides this is as far as you can go.

Long Island based filmmaker Chris Garetano is known to many horror fans as the founding editor and driving force behind ARE YOU GOING? (www.areyougoingmovie.com) -- a zine focusing on all things relating to Indie Horror film-making. He's also made several film shorts -- one of which (INSIDE) was featured in the 2004 Fangoria Blood Drive series. Chris' latest project though may well be his crowning achievement. It's a fascinating documentary called HORROR BUSINESS. The movie covers the careers of five up-and-coming horror-movie loving directors – Mark Borchardt ('Coven'), Ron Atkins ('Necromaniac'), Dave Stagnari ('Catharsis'), John Gora ('Chirpy'), and Brian Singleton. It's a fascinating look behind the filmmakers and what drives them (and us) in this ongoing, crazy, and unshakable love of the genre. Watching this documentary it's also clear that the man at the helm of the HORROR BUSINESS has an equally deep and compelling love of horror.

Six is a documentary by forensic psychologist Helen Smith, PhD about the murders of the Lillelid family by an occult gang of mostly teenagers led by Natasha Coronet. Dr. Smith was writer and executive producer of Six. The documentary focuses on the events leading up to the murders and the aftermath. The focus is on three failures: the failure of the schools and mental health system in dealing with Natasha Coronet and the members of her occult gang before the murders, the failure of the law enforcement to respond to reports from family members that the youths had left town in a car with stolen guns, and the fact the criminal justice system was at loss as how to handle them after the fact. The documentary holds the young people responsible for their acts, but it does not let the parents, school, health system, police or courts off the hook either.

Constructed, believe it or not, as a heist film, composed of interviews, actual filmed footage from the seventies, re-enactments (done incredibly tastefully and intelligently) and a large number of photographs, "Man on Wire" from director James Marsh is a brilliant, audacious, stunning, and utterly enthralling film, and having seen it not more than an hour ago I can already say with confidence that it is one of the best documentaries ever made, not because it achieves the sort of brilliantly real observations on human behavior and emotions that a Maysles Bros. film does, but because it is a surprisingly hilarious, unbelievably well-crafted movie about so many absurdities, so much ridiculousness, such insane, insane acts (and yet so beautiful as well), and one which looks in on some of the most interesting people I think I've ever come across. I normally don't take to non-'cinema-verite' documentaries, but this is just about the biggest exception possible, as I will say with confidence that this is an a terrific film.
Philippe Petit, the wire-walker who walked between the World Trade Center towers in 1974, is one of the most absurd and audacious people I've ever seen in real life or recorded on film. His spirit fills every frame of the film, and his commitment to this dangerous, illegal, and almost unbelievably courageous act is astounding to witness. The film thankfully affords us the chance to get to know Philippe, and it would have been so easy for Marsh to focus only on the incredibly entertaining planning process for the audacious climactic act, but he doesn't, as through the interviews we get to know Philippe, Annie, and Jean-Louis quite well, and the interviews don't feel as put-on as they do in many other films.

This 2006 Sundance Film Festival winner is a striking video diary of Rick Kirkham, a 48-year old television journalist who at first appears to be living a charmed life. After rising quickly through the ranks from local TV news to a gig as a national correspondent for Inside Edition, Kirkham spends weekdays in New York and weekends in Dallas with his wife and their two sons. But all is not as it seems: While covering drug raids as a TV reporter, Kirkham gets introduced to drugs and later becomes addicted to crack cocaine. Kirkham, who has documented virtually every facet of his life since he got his first video camera at age 14, brings his reporting instincts to bear on both the sunny and tragic aspects of his own life. He is as apt to record the birth of his sons as he is his frequent cocaine binges, painful family arguments and even home visits by police. In one particularly disturbing scene, he sets up the camera and walks us through the preparation of a makeshift aluminum foil pipe before smoking crack cocaine he has just scored on the streets of New York. Assembled from the more than 3,000 hours of footage shot by Kirkham himself, TV Junkie focuses on a seven-year period in which Kirkham says he used drugs about three times a week. Between stints in rehab, Kirkham's life unravels like a slow- motion train wreck: He loses his career, family and almost his life in an attempted suicide before getting clean and speaking publicly about the perils of addiction.

In the mid-80's two young climbers attempted to reach the summit of Siula Grande in Peru; a feat that had previously been attempted but never achieved. With an extra man looking after base camp, Simon and Joe set off to scale the mount in one long push over several days. The peak is reached, however on the descent Joe falls and breaks his leg. Despite what it means, the two continue with Simon letting Joe out on a rope for 300 meters, then descending to join him and so on. However when Joe goes out over an overhang with no way of climbing back up, Simon makes the decision to cut the rope. Joe falls into a crevice and Simon, assuming him dead, continues back down. Joe however survives the fall and was lucky to hit a ledge in the crevice. This is the story of how he got back down.

This controversial documentary about the stand-off between an unorthodox Christian group - the Branch Davidians, under the leadership of the young, charismatic David Koresh - and the FBI and ATF in Waco, Texas, from February to April 1993 presents a different spin on the events from that of the United States government, which held that the Branch Davidians set the fire that destroyed their compound, and killed the vast majority of them, on April 19, 1993. Using footage from the 51 day siege, from the congressional hearings afterwards, from people involved in all aspects of the siege, and from experts technical, psychological, and religious, the movie suggests that the Branch Davidians were not a cult, but a valid religious group practicing under First Amendment freedoms who fell victim to first the ineptitude of an ATF raid designed to garner the agency positive attention and later the cruel, methodical work of the FBI, who over-saw the murder of the Davidians and then quickly covered it up.

The Bridge is a 2006 documentary film by Eric Steel that tells the stories of a handful of individuals who committed suicide at the Golden Gate Bridge in 2004. The film was inspired by an article entitled "Jumpers," which was written by Tad Friend and appeared in The New Yorker magazine in 2003. The documentary caused significant controversy when Eric Steel revealed that he had tricked the Golden Gate Bridge committee into allowing him to film the bridge for months and had captured 23 of 24 known suicides which took place during filming phase of the project. In his permit application to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Steel said he intended "to capture the powerful, spectacular intersection of monument and nature that takes place every day at the Golden Gate Bridge". The movie was shot with multiple cameras pointed at a notorious suicide spot on the bridge during 2004. It captured 19 people as they took their final plunge, and then offers interviews with grieving families.

'The Ripple Effect' is THE best video yet produced in respect of what really happened in London on 7th July 2005. Whereas Alex 'I Am A Zionist Disinformationalist' Jones' 'Terrorstorm' acknowledges that Israel had foreknowledge of the event, his documentary does not, however, go anywhere near the issue of Mossad involvement. On the contrary, Jones heads in the opposite direction as per usual and tries to convince us that MI5 did it.
Indeed, Alex Jones is on the record as saying that his research offers "conclusive evidence" that British intelligence were the perpetrators. While MI5 were most definitely involved in the atrocities - in a faciltating role at the very least - all the evidence points towards the Israeli Mossad being responsible for executing the bombings. Unlike 'Terrorstorm', 'Ludicrous Diversions' and 'Mind The Gap', 'The Ripple Effect' acknowledges this fact.
'The Ripple Effect' is THE definitive video on the 7/7 bombings. The producer has done a wonderful job in putting together a comprehensive list of verifiable, documented facts which offer conclusive proof that the official account of the events of 7th July is a lie.

How did Hitler decide he was a messiah and persuade a whole nation to follow him to damnation?
This is a subject that has been mined many times in fiction - Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Constantine, Hellboy, Bulletproof Monk and English horror writer James Herbert's book The Spear - as well as documentary.
Based on Ken Anderson's 1995 book of the same name, this aims to show how the Nazi party was originally made up of several occult groups that believed a messiah was on the way to save Germany. Adolf Hitler decided that he was that messiah and somehow persuaded a whole nation to follow him down the road to damnation. How did he do that? Were the reasons economic and social? Or, wait for it, supernatural? It's already well documented that he appropriated Christian symbols - the Spear of Destiny, which supposedly pierced Christ's side on the Cross, and the Holy Grail - for his own purposes. Ditto the swastika, which had religious significance for earlier cultures.

Ted Bundy (November 24, 1946 - January 24, 1989) was an American serial killer. Bundy murdered scores of young women across the United States between 1974 and 1978. After more than a decade of vigorous denials, Bundy eventually confessed to 29 murders, although the actual total of victims remains unknown. Estimates range from 29 to over 100. John Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 - May 10, 1994) also known as The Killer Clown, was an American serial killer.
He was convicted and later executed for the rape and murder of 33 boys and young men between 1972 and his arrest in 1978, 27 of whom he buried in a crawl space under the floor of his house, while others were found in nearby rivers. He became notorious as the "Killer Clown" because of the many block parties he threw for his friends and neighbors, entertaining children in a clown suit and makeup, under the name of "Pogo the Clown." He was also in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest sentence imposed on a mass murderer; he was given 21 consecutive life sentences and 12 death sentences.

Gary Leon Ridgway (born February 18, 1949), known as the Green River Killer, is one of the most prolific serial killers in American history. On November 30, 2001, as he was leaving a Renton, Washington factory where he worked, he was arrested for the murders of seven women whose deaths were attributed to the "Green River Killer". Four murders were linked to him through DNA and three through paint he used at his job. Two years later he pleaded guilty to 48 counts of aggravated murder, although the estimates run much higher. Ridgway has been married three times and has one son. He carried his son's photo in his wallet to lure most of his victims into his pickup truck.

Henry Lee Lucas (August 23, 1936 - March 13, 2001) was an American criminal, convicted of murder and once listed as America's most prolific serial killer. However, he later recanted his confessions. He once flatly stated "I am not a serial killer" in a letter to researcher Brad Shellady.
Lucas confessed to involvement in about 3,000 murders, an average of about one murder per day between his release from prison in mid-1975 to his arrest in mid-1983. A more widely circulated total of about 350 murders committed by Lucas is based on confessions deemed "believable" by a Texas-based "Lucas Task Force," a group which was criticized by Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox for sloppy police work and taking part in an extended "hoax".

David Richard Berkowitz (born June 1, 1953), also known as the .44 Caliber Killer and the Son of Sam, is an American serial killer.
Shortly after his arrest in 1977, Berkowitz confessed to killing six people and wounding seven others in the course of eight shootings in New York City between 1976 and 1977. He has been imprisoned for the crimes since 1977. The crimes had terrorized New York for a year. Berkowitz subsequently claimed that a neighbor's dog was possessed by a demon that commanded Berkowitz to kill.
Berkowitz later amended his confession to claim he was the shooter in only two incidents, personally killing three people and wounding a fourth. The other victims were killed, Berkowitz claimed, by members of a violent Satanic cult of which he was a member. Though he remains the only person charged with or convicted of the shootings, some law enforcement authorities argue that Berkowitz's claims are credible: according to John Hockenberry of MSNBC, many officials involved in the original "Son of Sam" case suspected that more than one person was perpetrating the murders. Hockenberry also reports that the Son of Sam case was reopened in 1996 and, as of 2004, it was still considered open.

Dennis Lynn Rader (born March 9, 1945) is an American serial killer who murdered 10 people in Sedgwick County (in and around Wichita), Kansas, between 1974 and 1991. He was known as the BTK killer (or the BTK strangler), which stands for Bind, Torture and Kill, which describes his modus operandi. Letters were written soon after the killings to police and to local news outlets, boasting of the crimes and knowledge of details. After a long hiatus these letters resumed in 2004, leading to his arrest in 2005 and subsequent conviction.

Edward Theodore Gein (August 27, 1906 - July 26, 1984) was a notorious American killer. Though only two murders on his part were proven, he gained great infamy due to necrophiliac behavior (which involved the skinning of his murder victims and exhumed corpses, the decoration of his home with parts of corpses, and the creation of articles of clothing and furniture from the skin of corpses). Although he is considered to have engaged in necrophiliac behavior, there is no significant evidence to prove that he engaged in sex with the corpses. Besides the death of his brother in 1944 under mysterious circumstances, six people disappeared from the Wisconsin towns of La Crosse and Plainfield between 1947 and 1957.

She ultimately received five additional death sentences. Paragraph 175 is a documentary film released in 2000, directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, and narrated by Rupert Everett. The film chronicles the lives of several men who were arrested by the Nazis for homosexuality under Paragraph 175, the sodomy provision of the German penal code, dating back to 1871.
Between 1933 and 1945, 100,000 men were arrested under Paragraph 175. Some were imprisoned, others were sent to concentration camps. Only about 4,000 survived; see Paragraph 175 for full details.
In 2000, fewer than ten of these men were known to be living. Five come forward in the documentary to tell their stories for the first time, considered to be among the last untold stories of the Third Reich.
